DIE-Director Anna-Katharina Hornidge participated as an expert in the discussion “Freedom, Peace, Security and Development. The United Nations between aspiration and reality”. Stephan Holthoff-Pförtner, Minister for Federal and European Affairs and International Affairs of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, and the Bonn International Centre for Conversion  (BICC), had invited to the debate. The discussion focused on the 75th anniversary of the United Nations and the question, which objectives the world organisation has been able to achieve and implement since its foundation. The role of the United Nations in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic was also discussed, as well as the extent to which the organisation can contribute to peacekeeping in the face of a strengthened multipolar world order.
