Launch of the Sustainable Development Report 2021

On 14 June, the Global Sustainable Development Report (SDR) 2021 was launched. The annual report is produced by a group of authors led by Prof. Jeffrey Sachs, President of the Global Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), and aims to track progress towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The report focuses on the effects of COVID-19 on the SDGs. The findings of the report indicate that the pandemic has led to a trend reversal in progress for the first time since the adoption of the SDGs. In addition, the report shows in which areas worldwide, but also in individual countries, there is the strongest need for action. Germany ranked 4th; nevertheless, Germany is lagging behind with regard to climate protection, biodiversity and responsible consumption and production.
